Trustee Vacancy: Follow Your Dreams

 Follow Your Dreams is a Charity that raises awareness and helps young people with learning disabilities to realise their full potential within Sport, Art, Music, Drama and ICT. We also offer help and support to improve Confidence, Personal Development and Self Esteem, preparing youngsters for independent living and employment.

Follow Your Dreams is currently going through a period of rapid expansion income has increased by 120% in the past year, resulting in a larger staff group and more diverse charity functions. This growth is expected to continue with the public profile of the charity evolving. A recent full audit this year and a change of the Board of Trustees has resulted in new governance and compliance that is accurate and sustainable.

If you would like to use your skills and experience at Board level to help us to realise our mission, we very much look forward to hearing from you.

Trustees

We are looking for committed individuals to strengthen our existing board. We require dynamic and motivated people who are sympathetic to the aims and objectives of Follow Your Dreams to fulfill these voluntary duties. Contribute actively to the board of trustees by giving strategic direction; setting overall policy; defining goals and setting targets; evaluating performance; ensuring the charity’s effective and efficient administration and financial stability.

On the basis of a recent skills audit, we would particularly welcome people with skills in the following areas:
- Finance and accounts
- Fundraising and income generation
- Marketing and communications
- Business and social enterprise development (including bidding for tenders, contract negotiations, business planning, etc)

However, applications from people with other senior management or board experience are also very much encouraged.

Trustees are expected to
- attend up to seven meetings a year including Board meetings;
- contribute advice and support on an ad hoc basis;
- become involved in working groups as required

All travel and out of pocket expenses will be paid.
